What data do we collect?
The following provides an overview of the data we may collect:
Non-personal data:
Non-identified and non-identifiable information that you provide during the registration process or that is collected through the use of our Services (“Non-Personal Data”). Non-Personal Data does not enable us to identify the person from whom it was collected. The Non-Personal Data we collect mainly consists of technical and aggregated usage information.
Personal data:
Individually identifiable information, i.e., information that identifies you or could reasonably be used to identify you (“Personal Data”). The Personal Data we collect through our Services may include information requested from time to time, such as names, email addresses, addresses, telephone numbers, IP addresses and more. If we combine Personal Data with Non-Personal Data, we will treat the combined data as Personal Data for as long as it remains combined.
How do we collect data?
We use the following primary methods to collect data:
-
Through your use of the Services: When you visit or use our Digital Assets, we may collect, record and store usage, sessions and related information.
-
Data you provide directly: For example, when you contact us through a communication channel (e.g., sending an email with a comment or feedback).
-
From third-party sources: As described below, we may collect data from third-party sources.
-
Via third-party login providers: We may collect data you provide when you sign in to our Services via a third-party provider such as Facebook or Google.
Why do we collect this data?
We may use your data for the following purposes:
-
To provide and operate our Services;
-
To develop, customize and improve our Services;
-
To respond to your feedback, requests and inquiries and provide assistance;
-
To analyze demand and usage patterns;
-
For internal, statistical and research purposes;
-
To enhance our data security and fraud prevention capabilities;
-
To investigate violations and enforce our terms and policies, and to comply with applicable law, regulations or governmental requests;
-
To send you updates, notices, promotional materials and other information related to our Services. With respect to promotional emails, you may opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in such emails.
To whom do we disclose this data?
We may share your data with our service providers in order to operate our services (e.g., storing data through third-party hosting services, providing technical support, etc.).
We may also disclose your data under the following circumstances:
(i) to investigate, detect, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities or other wrongdoing;
(ii) to establish or exercise our rights of defense;
(iii) to protect our rights, property or personal safety, and the safety of our users or the public;
(iv) in the event of a change of control of us or any of our affiliates (including by merger, acquisition or purchase of substantially all assets, etc.);
(v) to collect, store and/or manage your data through authorized third parties (e.g., cloud service providers), as reasonably necessary for business purposes; and
(vi) to work with third parties to enhance your user experience. For the avoidance of doubt, we may transfer and disclose non-personal data to third parties at our discretion or otherwise use it.
User-generated content (Blog/Forum)
Please note that our Services may enable social interactions (e.g., publicly posting content, information and comments and chatting with other users). We advise you that any content or data you provide in these areas may be read, collected and used by others. We recommend that you do not post information you do not wish to make public. If you upload content to our digital assets or otherwise provide it in the course of using a service, you do so at your own risk. We cannot control the actions of other users or members of the public who may have access to your data or content. You acknowledge and agree that copies of your data may remain accessible even after deletion on cached and archived pages or if third parties have copied or stored your content.
Cookies and similar technologies
When you visit or access our services, we may authorize third parties to use web beacons, cookies, pixel tags, scripts and other technologies and analytics services (“tracking technologies”). Such tracking technologies may enable third parties to automatically collect your data in order to enhance navigation on our digital assets, optimize performance and provide a personalized user experience, as well as for security and fraud prevention purposes.
To learn more, please refer to our cookie policy.
Advertising
We may deliver advertisements through our Services and Digital Assets (including websites and applications that use our Services), which may be tailored to you, for example based on your recent browsing behavior across websites, devices or browsers.
To deliver such advertisements, we may use cookies and/or JavaScript and/or web beacons (including transparent GIFs) and/or HTML5 local storage and/or other technologies. We may also engage third parties, such as network advertisers, to display targeted advertisements. Third-party advertising networks, advertisers, sponsors and/or website traffic measurement services may also use cookies and similar technologies to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and tailor advertising content. These third-party cookies and technologies are governed by the privacy policy of the respective third party and not by this privacy policy.
Where do we store the data?
Mon-personal data:
Please note that our companies, as well as our trusted partners and service providers, are located worldwide. For the purposes described in this privacy policy, we may store and process any non-personal data we collect in various jurisdictions.
Personal data:
Personal data may be maintained, processed and stored in the United States, Ireland, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel and other jurisdictions as necessary for the proper provision of our services and/or as required by law.
How long do we retain the data?
We retain collected data for as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with our legal and contractual obligations towards you, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. We may correct, supplement or delete inaccurate or incomplete data at any time at our discretion.
How do we protect the data?
The hosting service for our digital assets provides us with an online platform through which we can offer the services. Your data may be stored through the hosting provider’s data storage, databases and general applications. The hosting provider stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall and provides secure HTTPS access to most areas of its services.
Payments / eCommerce
All payment gateways offered by us and our hosting provider comply with the PCI-DSS standards (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) administered by the PCI Security Standards Council.
Notwithstanding the measures taken by us and our hosting provider, we cannot guarantee absolute protection and security of any data you upload, publish or otherwise share with us or others. You are therefore encouraged to use strong passwords and avoid sending confidential information which you believe could cause you substantial or irreparable harm if disclosed. Email and instant messaging are not recognized as secure communication channels; therefore, please do not transmit confidential information through such channels.
Minors
The Services are not intended for users who have not reached the legal age of majority. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are under the age of majority, you should not use the services and should not provide us with any information.
We reserve the right to request proof of age at any time so that we can verify whether minors are using our services. If we become aware that a minor is using our services, we may deny such users access to our services and may delete any data we hold about that user. If you have reason to believe that a minor has shared data with us, please contact us as set out below.
Legal bases and EU resident rights
We will use your personal data only for the purposes set out in this privacy policy and only where we are satisfied that:
-
the use of your personal data is necessary to perform or enter into a contract (e.g., to provide the services or customer support/technical support);
-
the use of your personal data is necessary to comply with legal or regulatory obligations; or
-
the use of your personal data is necessary to support our legitimate business interests, provided that such processing is proportionate and respects your privacy rights.
If you are an EU/EEA resident, you may:
-
request confirmation as to whether personal data concerning you is being processed and access your personal data, together with supplementary information;
-
request to receive the personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format;
-
request rectification of your personal data;
-
request deletion of your personal data;
-
object to processing of your personal data;
-
request restriction of processing; or
-
lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Please note that these rights are not absolute and may be subject to our legitimate interests and regulatory requirements. If you have any general questions about the personal data we collect and how we use it, please contact us as indicated below.
International transfers
In the course of providing the Services, we may transfer data cross-border to affiliates or other third parties and from your country/jurisdiction to other countries/jurisdictions worldwide. By using the Services, you consent to such transfer of your data outside the EEA.
If you are located in the EEA, your Personal Data will only be transferred to locations outside the EEA where we are satisfied that an adequate or comparable level of protection exists. We will take appropriate steps to ensure that we have suitable contractual arrangements in place with our third parties to ensure adequate safeguards.
(Note: For strict GDPR practice, “consent to transfer” is usually not the best legal basis; Wix uses standard contractual safeguards. You can keep this paragraph because it is Wix template language, but we can also simplify it to match your actual setup.)
California privacy rights (CCPA)
If you use the Services as a California resident, you may be entitled under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) to request access to and deletion of your data.
We do not sell Users’ Personal Data for the purposes of the CCPA.
Updates or changes to this Privacy Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time at our sole discretion. The version posted on the Website is always the most current version (see the “Last updated” date). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on our Website. Your continued use of the Services after notification of changes constitutes your acknowledgement and consent to the changes and agreement to be bound by the amended Policy.
